Our Right to Freedom of Speech and Religion

I was informed the other day that because I do not worship the way someone else does makes me a heathen.
This person, a friend, told me some things that made me wonder where America went.  I am writing this, therefore I have the Freedom of Speech.  But, I was surprised to find out that America is a Christian Nation.
I was shocked!  I do not remember missing any classes on American History, but I guess that I did not get the memo.  I was taught that as Americans, we have the freedom to worship in the way we chose and all are welcome.  Christian, Muslim, Hebrew, Buddhist,  even atheist.  I went and got my copy of the Constitution of the United States, I read it through, including all the amendments, I was not able to find one word about this being a Christian Nation.
I believe in GOD.  There, I said it.  Where we differ is that I do not see a need for a middle man.  Sure, Jesus was a great man.  He accomplished a lot of wonder things and taught us some very valuable lessons.  Even the book of Islam is wonderful to read.  The stories are amazing and the poems beautiful.  Buddha teaches us to walk a path wisdom and that however you worship, you should do so with all your heart.  I could go on and on.  I have no problem with any of these wonderful paths of worship.  It seems to be the people I meet along the way.   I think this country would be a better place to live if some of these people would put as much effort into voting and staying on top of there elected officials as they do on stomping on other peoples rights.  We have lost sight.  This country is on the verge of being lost because, We, the People,
the first cog in the political machine, have stopped working.  That may be the reason why our elected officials
are running a muck and out of control.
